Icon AIM 8.0.93

Free Text Messaging*
Send free text messages from your AIM app. Say goodbye to texting limitations and overage charges. Group Conversations
AIM makes it easy to talk and share with a group, so you can chat with friends or collaborate with colleagues.
Share photos, videos, tweets and more with all your buddies. Social Notifications
Get notifications from your favorite social networks and chat with friends on AIM and Google Talk.

One of the best things about AIM is that you can use it to send SMS messages in the United States. Just type in +1 and the 10 digit number instead of the username.
Eg. +1 (555) 555-5555 - This will also work with your AIM account in Adium and Messages

Icon Skype 7.33

Skype is the next phenomenon from the people who brought you KaZaA. Just like KaZaA, Skype uses P2P (peer-to-peer) technology to connect you to other users - not to share files this time, but to talk and chat with your friends.
Our software's quick and easy to install. Just download Skype, register (you can also use your Microsoft Messenger account) and within minutes you can plug in your headset, speakers or USB phone and call your friends. The calls have excellent sound quality and are highly secure with end-to-end encryption. You don't even need to reconfigure your firewall or router. It just, you know... works.
You can also use our SkypeOut function to make calls to friends who only have a landline or mobile phone anywhere in the world at local rates. You can even transfer files of up to 2 gigabytes.
