The simplest selection method is through partial file name matches, e.g. "select all files which end in '.gif'", or "select all files which contain the word 'web'".
Unix-style wildcard matches such as "image*.gif" provide a more powerful alternative, but it is the regular expression matching, familiar to BBEdit , grep or Perl users that provide the ultimate file selection mechanism.

Grapple then searches recursively through the folder hierarchy for files of the type (or types) chosen containing the string you desire.

MacFUSE implements a mechanism that makes it possible to implement a fully functional file system in a user-space program on Mac OS X (10.4 and above). It aims to be API-compliant with the FUSE (File-system in USErspace) mechanism that originated on Linux. Therefore, many existing FUSE file systems become readily usable on Mac OS X. The core of MacFUSE is in a dynamically loadable kernel extension.
Although MacFUSE has a completely different kernel-level implementation from Linux FUSE, it supports the FUSE specification well enough that many popular FUSE file systems can be easily compiled and work on Mac OS X--often out of the box. Examples of file systems that work and have been tested (to varying degrees) include sshfs, ntfs-3g (read/write NTFS), ftpfs (read/write FTP), wdfs (WebDAV), cryptofs, encfs, bindfs, unionfs, beaglefs (yes, including the entire Beagle paraphernalia), and so on.
Besides making many existing FUSE file systems available on Mac OS X, MacFUSE opens up a whole new set of opportunities for Macintosh developers, who can now put intuitive and innovative interfaces around all kinds of information.

A simple Spotlight front-end substitute. I wrote this because I got sick and tired of Tiger's lousy Spotlight interface. The magnifying-glass menu is a fake menu; it behaves oddly, and doesn't show all the matches. The Spotlight window looks like something from the Windows world: it works like a web browser, you can't easily navigate it with the keyboard, you have to keep pressing the "i" buttons just to learn where a file is, and so on. The Finder window requires that you jump through all sorts of hoops just to find a file by name. Worst of all, none of these front ends give you access to the real power of Spotlight: they automatically do wildcard searches, they don't let you do exact searches, they don't let you specify case-sensitivity or word-based searches, and they don't let you construct complex boolean searches with AND, OR, and NOT (or if they do, it isn't clear how).
So I wrote this substitute, in order to access the real Spotlight. You can do any kind of Spotlight search; seven search keys are built in, and you can add more, and you can even view and edit a search as text if you like. You can use wildcards or not, specify word-based, case-insensitive, and diacritic-insensitive searches, and construct complex searches with AND, OR, and NOT. A Date Assistant translates dates into Spotlights query langugae for you. Results are a simple list of filename and paths.

Pacifist is also able to verify existing installations and find missing or altered files*, and Pacifist can also examine the kernel extensions installed in your system to let you see what installer installed them, and whether the installer was made by Apple or a third-party.

RCDefaultApp is a Mac OS X 10.2 or higher preference pane that allows a user to set the default application used for various URL schemes, file extensions, file types, MIME types, and Uniform Type Identifiers (or UTIs; MacOS 10.4 only). MacOS X uses the extension and file type settings to choose the application when opening a file in Finder, while Safari and other applications use the URL and MIME type settings at other times for content not related to a file (such as an unknown URL protocol, or a media stream).
RCDefaultApp also allows setting the application when digital cameras or FireWire webcams such as iSight are connected to the computer. For completeness' sake, there are also settings that mimic the existing "CDs and DVDs" preference pane, which allows setting the action to take when various types of CDs and DVDs are inserted into the computer.
RCDefaultApp also allows entries to be disabled, such as URL schemes that have security issues.

rooSwitch exists to make it easy for you to create different profiles of almost any application's data. You then switch amongst the profiles to activate the data you wish to use. It's like a multi-user environment for just one application.
In Internet newsgroups large files often are split into smaller parts since messages can not be of more than a certain size to be able to post them in newsgroups. For that reason you can find often binary files that are split in parts like filename.mp3.001, filename.mp3.002, filename.mp3.003, etc. While it is possible to put these parts together using commands in the Terminal, not everybody is comfortable with the command line.
That's why I decided to write a small utility that makes it easy to split large files or merge pre-split files -- all from a comfortable OS X interface. This simplifies the process of uploading and downloading split files from the Internet, as well as making it possible to store a large file across two or more CD-R's.
Every file on your computer has name, location, date and contact information, but it's not up to you to remember all this, that's what computers are for! With hard drives getting bigger every year, more and more files are saved every day. But where did you save them? Can you get to them easily? If you're not careful in saving your files where you know you'll find them, you could have a hard time retrieving them. You may know part or all of a file's name, information that a file contains, or other related information about a file. But how do you use this information to your advantage? The in-built search functions of Finder in Mac OS X give you the capability to find files, but without the flexibility and ease you may want or need. That's where Spotlaser comes in. Spotlaser enables you to get results that are more focused and relevant to your requirements. Spotlaser is perfect for live searching or to create Smart Folders for your most common searches.
Super Get Info 1.3.1
Super Get Info is a file and folder info utility for Mac OS X.
It offers a flexible, user-friendly alternative to the Finder's "Get Info" command, allowing you to easily change file type info and permissions, edit comments, and preview file contents.
Super Get Info was designed to address the numerous shortcomings of the Mac OS X Finder's "Get Info" command. Specifically, it allows you to take the following actions (most of which aren't possible using the Finder's Info window): open one information window for each selected Finder item, so you can view (and change) multiple selected items discretely; view and edit the Mac OS type and creator codes for a given file; view and edit Unix owner, group, and permission settings; empty the Trash with authentication to remove privileged files; and much more!
Toast Titanium 11.0.4
Toast Titanium, Roxio's award winning CD/DVD burning software for Mac OS X, is the foundation of your digital life. Toast helps you do even more with iTunes, iPhoto, iMovie and GarageBand. Now it's easier than ever to create and copy your data, music, photo and video CDs and DVDs.
Touvaly is a drop utility for making pseudo copies of files, folders, CD's and volumes. A pseudo copy of a file is a file with all the same attributes as the original file (creation date, modification date, type, creator, name, etc.) but with empty contents. You can use Touvaly create virtual catalogues of collections of files which use very little space.
Type/Creator Database 2003.10
Every Macintosh file has two four-character codes associated with it - its type and creator. The Creator code is unique to each application and enables the Finder to attach documents to their parent applications. This way you can "double click" on the Icon of a document and MacOS will open it with its correct application. The Type code lets this application to differentiate among its files. Type/Creator Database is a collection of those codes. The latest collection of codes includes 31,874.
VolumeWorks will resize your partition to the size of your choice. VolumeWorks will even defragment the disk if necessary to allow for shrinking. You can use VolumeWorks to create and delete partitions, with many custom icons that can be automatically applied to your newly created partition. VolumeWorks can hide partitions from users as well. VolumeWorks also has the ability to shift a partition on the hard drive in addition to reconstructing partition maps.
YuBurner is CD/DVD diskrecording software.
XRay is a much-expanded version of the Finder's "Get Info" window. Select any item in the Finder and press Command-Shift-X, or simply drag any file, folder, application, or volume onto XRay's icon, and you'll get a information window. All enabled flags and fields can be edited; if necessary, XRay will ask for an Administrator password to change files you normally wouldn't be able to modify. You can also XRay a file from the Finder, using the included Contextual Menu, or from any XRay window by opening the built-in browser drawer.
